About the Facility

This opportunity is based at St. Vincent, a Level 1 Trauma Center located in Toledo, OH. The Labor & Delivery unit operates as a Level 4 L&D facility within a teaching hospital environment. The practice setting is exclusively hospital-based, focusing on Labor & Delivery coverage with a patient mix consisting of 80% high-risk pregnancies, 20% low-risk pregnancies, and 10% Gynecology cases. Approximately 25% of deliveries result in C-sections.

The unit is equipped with 10 L&D beds, an onsite lab, and onsite ultrasound capabilities. The facility utilizes the EPIC documentation system. Support staff includes nursing teams and OB residents who are present on Labor & Delivery to first assist. The unit also collaborates with midwives on L&D.

About the Role

We are seeking an OB Hospitalist to provide critical coverage during a period of reduced staffing. The team is currently down two FTEs due to a pending maternity leave, and outpatient OBs are reducing their laborist shifts this summer. This role is essential to maintaining continuous care for the hospital's diverse patient population.

As a hospitalist in this teaching facility, you will work alongside OB residents and nursing staff to manage a high volume of complex cases. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include managing both low-risk and high-risk pregnancies, performing fetal heart rate interpretations, and conducting various ultrasound levels. You will be responsible for routine vaginal deliveries, complicated deliveries (including breech, multiple births, and abruptions), and decision-making for C-sections. Additionally, the role involves repairing 3rd and 4th-degree lacerations and performing various operative and minor Gynecologic procedures.

Coverage Dates

The assignment covers the following specific dates:

• July 26 (Sunday): 24 hours (8:00 AM to 8:00 AM on July 27)
• July 31: 24 hours (8:00 AM to 8:00 AM on August 1)
• August 2 (Sunday): 24 hours (8:00 AM to 8:00 AM on August 3)
• August 7 (Friday): 9 hours (8:00 AM to 5:00 PM)
• August 9 (Sunday): 24 hours (8:00 AM to 8:00 AM on August 10)
