The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) serves within Mayo Clinic's Division of General Internal Medicine in Rochester, one of the largest academic general internal medicine divisions in the world. This division acts as the gateway for evaluating and caring for adult patients with unexplained symptoms and complex medical conditions.
Specifically, this role is situated within the Consultative Medicine Clinic, a section of General Internal Medicine that provides consultative medical care to patients residing outside of Olmsted County, Minnesota. The LPN supports the clinic's mission by conducting initial comprehensive evaluations for new patients. The day-to-day involves a blend of face-to-face and telephone patient visits, reviewing health histories and medications, administering immunizations, performing focused nutrition assessments, and managing blood pressure visits. Telehealth interactions may include collecting pertinent pre-arrival information, researching prescription discrepancies, and facilitating prior authorization denials.
Working as a member of the healthcare team, the LPN collaborates daily with physicians, nursing colleagues, and support staff. Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or assigned supervisor, the LPN accepts delegation to meet patient and family needs. This includes collecting data through observation to assist in patient assessment and care planning, and delivering care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and the principles of relationship-based care. The role also offers opportunities to participate in committees or projects, including quality improvement initiatives, and to mentor and instruct others.
Interested candidates should apply directly through the Mayo Clinic careers portal. The recruitment process is managed by Brittany Crowson.
All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, protected veteran status, or disability status. Mayo Clinic participates in E-Verify and may provide the Social Security Administration and, if necessary, the Department of Homeland Security with information from each new employee's Form I-9 to confirm work authorization.
