The Library Assistant at Indian Hills Elementary School serves as a vital support to the school librarian, ensuring the library remains a welcoming and organized hub for students and teachers. This position is designed to facilitate access to learning materials and maintain the daily operations of the library environment.
In this role, you will work directly under the supervision of the Librarian or Principal. Your day-to-day activities involve assisting students and faculty in locating resources, managing the circulation desk, and handling routine clerical tasks. You will play a key part in keeping the library neat and organized, from shelving materials to maintaining inventory records.
A unique aspect of this position is the opportunity to engage directly with students. You will be responsible for presenting story hours to primary grades, utilizing various media to enhance the storytelling experience. Additionally, you will act as a receptionist for the library, responding to inquiries from vendors, students, and staff, and referring complex professional needs to the Librarian.
This is an on-site position located at Indian Hills Elementary School. The work environment is a quiet office or classroom setting equipped with computers and standard office machines. The schedule aligns with the school year (194 days), typically matching the teachers' work schedule or a schedule established by the supervisor. The role requires the physical ability to stand, walk for extended periods, and perform moderate to heavy lifting as needed for library maintenance.
