About the Role
As the first in-house legal hire, the Legal Counsel will be instrumental in developing the strategy for the legal and compliance function. This role is vital in supporting asset management and investment operations through sound legal advice and strategic counsel. You will grow the team, provide legal counsel to the C-suite and senior leadership, and advise on risk management strategies to protect the organization's interests.
The day-to-day involves providing expert legal guidance on CMBS transactions and contracts, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations within the banking and financial services sector, and drafting, reviewing, and negotiating agreements. You will also monitor changes in laws affecting the property industry and provide training to staff on compliance matters.
