You will support the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Aeronautics and Exploration Technology directorates at NASA Ames Research Center (ARC). The Advanced Methods project explores using modern data analytics and machine learning technologies to enable an Info-centric National Airspace System (NAS). This includes research, development, and prototyping on natural language processing (NLP) capabilities and task fine-tuning large language models (LLMs) to extract, store, and interpret structured data to drive post-operational analysis and improve overall NAS efficiency.
In this role, you will digitize and extract airspace constraints in standardized Exchange Model (XM) from legacy Standard Operating Procedures/Letter of Agreement (SOP/LOA) documents and automate the conversion of Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) into digital format for proactive maintenance and risk reduction. You will serve as the primary contact for customers on assigned projects, leveraging your knowledge of customer operations and business. You will work on complex issues of large scope and importance, applying advanced knowledge and seasoned judgment to independently resolve problems impacting cost and efficiency.
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure software delivery aligns with project timelines and quality standards. The role may provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to junior team members to foster their professional growth. You will be responsible for drafting and commenting on final reports for project deliverables to the FAA and presenting innovations in natural language processing and understanding at peer-reviewed conferences.
