The Groundperson is a vital member of the vegetation maintenance team, supporting critical activities along power lines to ensure safety and reliability. This role focuses on ground-level operations, utilizing specialized tools and equipment to manage brush, clear debris, and maintain the work environment. Groundpersons play a key part in identifying safety hazards and executing precise cleanup tasks that keep the infrastructure secure.

This position involves extensive travel (greater than 50%) and requires working outdoors in varied weather conditions, including rain, heat, sun, cold, and snow. The work takes place on rugged terrain and may involve exposure to nature, such as irritating plants, insects, dust, and chemicals. Employees must be prepared to work long hours and overtime during emergencies, natural disasters, holidays, and weekends, including potential call-out work.
Candidates must possess a valid First-Aid and CPR card or be able to obtain one within 90 days of hire. Depending on the division and contract requirements, a valid driver's license, commercial driver's license, and DOT medical card may be necessary. Interested applicants should ensure they can meet the physical demands of the role, including lifting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and maneuvering equipment on uneven ground.

High School diploma or equivalent. Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver's or commercial driver's license (dependent upon Division and utility/contract requirements) and DOT medical card in accordance with FMCSA regulations. Experience driving a vehicle with an attached chipper or other trailing unit to, from or within the work area. Maintain herbicide application certification or equivalent as required by Wright Tree Service and local, state, and federal law.
