The UHealth Laboratories Department is seeking a Laboratory Accessioner Supervisor to lead daily operations within this dynamic environment. This role serves as a vital liaison between hospital administration and laboratory staff, ensuring seamless workflows for pathology and laboratory settings.
As the Laboratory Accessioner Supervisor, you will oversee the day-to-day activities involved in accessioning a variety of requests and samples. You will manage inquiries, communications, and the resolution of issues with requesting clinics, clients, physicians, and patients. This position requires a balance of administrative oversight and hands-on management, ensuring that all specimens are correctly labeled, tracked, and processed according to standard operating procedures.
In this role, you will supervise the daily activities of Laboratory Accessioner personnel, fostering a cohesive team environment through performance management, training, and motivation. You will identify performance improvement initiatives by seeking feedback from the team and physicians, while maintaining strict accountability for quality control and error reduction within workflows. Additionally, you will collaborate with providers and clinicians to appropriately schedule appointments, considering resource availability, medical necessity, and payer guidelines. A key component of the role involves monitoring patient financial responsibilities and ensuring compliance with all UHealth policies, HIPAA guidelines, and federal regulations regarding the Medicare Secondary Payer process.
