About the Role
As a Journey Custodian at Eisenhower Jr. High, you will serve as the backbone of our school's daily operations, ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. Under the direction of the Head Custodian and Principal, this role goes beyond routine cleaning; it involves maintaining the physical integrity of the building and grounds while actively supporting the school's mission through reliability and attention to detail.
You will be responsible for the comprehensive care of the facility, from daily sanitation of classrooms, restrooms, and cafeterias to seasonal grounds maintenance including snow removal and lawn care. The position requires a high degree of autonomy in decision-making regarding task execution while strictly adhering to district safety protocols, including emergency lockdown procedures and chemical handling guidelines. Additionally, you will play a key role in building security by managing access points and operating security systems, ensuring the school is secure before and after hours.
A unique aspect of this 12-month contract is the requirement to work sixteen hours during the district's winter break. This time is coordinated with administration and fellow custodians to ensure continuous building coverage, and it is compensated with sixteen hours of additional paid time off that must be utilized before July 31 of the following year. Success in this role demands physical stamina, punctuality, and the ability to interact positively with the school community, including students, parents, and district personnel.
