The Arizona Department of Gaming (ADG) serves as the regulatory authority for tribal gaming, event wagering, fantasy sports, horse racing, pari-mutuel and simulcast wagering, and unarmed combat sports. Beyond regulation, the Department investigates illegal off-reservation activities and supports prevention, education, and treatment programs for individuals and families affected by problem gambling through its Division of Problem Gambling (DPG).
As a Special Agent (Non-sworn Investigator), you will conduct complex regulatory investigations essential to maintaining the integrity of Arizona's gaming industry. Your work directly supports State Certification, Tribal Licensure Recommendations, and Event Wagering/Fantasy Sports licensure. This role is critical in ensuring that only suitable applicants are granted licenses and that existing operators remain compliant with the Arizona Tribal-State Compact and applicable laws.
Your day-to-day involves conducting thorough background investigations, analyzing criminal history and financial data, and securing evidence. You will interview applicants, research public records, and prepare detailed reports that form the basis for issuing, denying, revoking, or suspending certifications. The role requires close coordination with management and the Attorney General's staff, with the potential to refer cases for prosecution and provide legal testimony. You may also be tasked with special investigations and acting as an information liaison with other agencies.
