The Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community (SRPMIC) Police Department is seeking a dedicated Law Enforcement Officer to serve as a vital link between the community and the law. This position is a driving role, operating within the SRPMIC jurisdiction, including off-road areas, to preserve law and order. The officer will enforce State and Tribal laws, respond to a wide range of emergencies, and work to build trust through routine interaction with community members.
In this role, you will be the first responder to incidents ranging from automobile accidents and domestic disturbances to criminal investigations. Your day will involve securing crime scenes, collecting and preserving physical evidence, interviewing victims and witnesses, and preparing detailed legal documentation to support the prosecution of offenders. You will also enforce traffic laws, issue citations, and testify in court regarding the facts of cases, presenting a credible image on behalf of the SRPMIC.
Beyond enforcement, this position emphasizes community engagement. You will interact with community members during patrols to answer questions and demonstrate a genuine interest in their well-being. The role requires maintaining the highest level of integrity, handling sensitive information with strict confidentiality, and continuously updating skills through classes and workshops on police procedures.
Applicants must be prepared to undergo a comprehensive selection process. Non-certified applicants must pass both a physical agility assessment and a written assessment (scoring 70% or better) within the designated timeframe. Current AZ POST certified officers (lateral hires) are exempt from these specific tests but must still complete the background investigation.
