The Inventory Specialist serves as the operational backbone of our steel tube manufacturing facility, ensuring the seamless flow of raw materials, work-in-process (WIP), and finished goods. In this fast-paced industrial environment, you will be the guardian of inventory integrity, bridging the gap between physical stock and our Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365) system. Your work directly supports production schedules, guaranteeing that the right materials are available at the right time while maintaining strict traceability and control over high-volume material movements.
Your day begins with a focus on precision and accuracy. You will manage the lifecycle of inventory transactions within D365, from verifying inbound raw steel coils and tube stock against purchase orders to executing real-time receipts, transfers, and production consumption. A significant portion of your time is dedicated to maintaining strict material traceability, ensuring every heat number and lot is documented and compliant with certification requirements.
You will actively engage in cycle counts and physical inventories, investigating discrepancies and implementing corrective actions to minimize shrinkage. Collaboration is key; you will coordinate closely with production, quality, and logistics teams to stage materials efficiently and prevent stockouts. Beyond daily transactions, you will analyze inventory reports to identify usage trends and support continuous improvement initiatives, such as Lean manufacturing and 5S, to enhance inventory turns and operational efficiency.
Candidates selected for this role will undergo a structured interview process designed to assess both technical proficiency and cultural fit. The process typically includes an initial screening to verify experience with ERP systems and manufacturing environments, followed by a technical assessment focusing on data analysis and inventory control scenarios. Final candidates will meet with the operations team to discuss specific challenges within the facility and demonstrate problem-solving capabilities.
