This role is dedicated to exploring, recommending, and coordinating insurance and financial assistance options for kidney dialysis patients within a specified geographic area. The primary mission is to support patients in navigating complex coverage landscapes—including Medicare, Medicaid, Medicare Supplement, State Renal programs, and COBRA—to ensure they elect the best financial options for their care.
By acting as a vital liaison between patients, insurance providers, and local Social Security offices, this position directly supports FMCNA's mission, vision, and core values. The role requires strict adherence to the FMCNA Compliance Program, ensuring all regulatory and company policy requirements are met while providing compassionate education to patients facing changes in employment status or insurance contracts.
You will serve as a trusted advisor for dialysis patients, meeting regularly at clinics to guide them through the application processes for alternative insurance and indigent waivers. A significant portion of your day involves traveling to various clinics within your region to verify eligibility, collect necessary documentation, and ensure patients understand their responsibilities regarding direct payments from insurance companies.
This position requires a strong customer service philosophy and the ability to work independently. You will analyze patient reports from billing systems to audit insurance information, resolve discrepancies, and prepare monthly reports to track caseload progress. Additionally, you will monitor coordination periods for patients on employer Group Health Plans and verify Medicaid status to determine spend-down amounts, ensuring accurate revenue cycle management.
This role involves extensive local travel to clinics within a designated geographic area. A valid Driver's License and reliable transportation are mandatory, as the position requires daily interaction with patients and facility staff across multiple locations. Mileage reimbursement is provided. The work environment is characteristic of a healthcare facility with air temperature control and moderate noise levels, alternating between desk work on a personal computer and direct patient interaction.
