About the Organization

The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) provides highway safety and security through excellence in service, education, and enforcement. With a workforce of approximately 4,500 employees throughout the state, the Department is leading the way to "A Safer Florida" through the efficient and professional execution of its core mission: the issuance of driver licenses, vehicle tags and titles, and operation of the Florida Highway Patrol.

The Division of Motorist Services, Bureau of Dealer Services, and Motor Vehicle Field Operations North in the Jacksonville Region are seeking a motivated individual to join our team. We are dedicated to supporting licensed dealers, regional offices, and tax collector staff while ensuring the integrity of our motor vehicle systems.

About the Role

As an Information Specialist II (Dealer Assistance Specialist), you will serve as the primary contact for dealer licensing matters related to independent, wholesale, salvage, auctions, used and new recreational vehicle dealers, and mobile home dealers. Your day will involve researching, reviewing, and analyzing applications and documentation for the issuance of dealer licenses, revocations, cancellations, titling, and registrations. You will process title application transactions based on established policies and procedures, handle records requests from dealers, law offices, courts, and the public, and review consumer complaints to compile pertinent information for jurisdiction determination.

This role requires strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently while understanding the importance of teamwork. You will perform essential administrative tasks, such as maintaining files, composing correspondence, preparing reports, and managing office inventory. Success in this position means being well-organized and capable of navigating complex regulatory environments to provide accurate guidance to our stakeholders.

Hiring Process & Application Instructions

To be considered for this position, applicant responses to qualifying questions must be clearly stated within the employment history. Software systems, actual work experience, and years of employment must be clearly defined, or the application may not be considered.

The selection process may include a skill assessment and/or an oral interview. Candidates requiring a reasonable accommodation, as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act, must notify the agency hiring authority and/or People First Service Center (1-866-663-4735) in advance.

For more information about FLHSMV and why it is a great place to work, visit flhsmv.gov/careers. For specific inquiries, contact Jordan Schultz at (904) 365-2685.

Equal Opportunity & Workplace Standards

The State of Florida supports a Drug-Free workplace. All employees are subject to reasonable suspicion drug testing in accordance with Section 112.0455, F.S., Drug-Free Workplace Act.

The State of Florida is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Veterans' Preference is granted pursuant to Chapter 295, Florida Statutes; candidates eligible for Veterans' Preference will receive preference in employment for Career Service vacancies and are encouraged to apply.

Background Check Requirements: This position is subject to a Level 2 background check and Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) clearance, including a fingerprint-based check of the criminal records of the FBI. As a condition of employment, the Department will have access to all an applicant's criminal and juvenile delinquency records, even those that have been sealed or expunged. Additionally, the incumbent must maintain a valid driver's license in good standing with no cancellations, suspensions, or revocations for a minimum of three years prior to and throughout employment.
