Global Engineering Services (GES) NA Ops Engineering is home to the Concept Development & Design Team, a group dedicated to leading the development of next-generation sortation and transportation systems. We support retrofit designs for first-mile facilities and drive controls and solutions development for future projects. Our team owns mechanical firm design for First Mile retrofits, Middle Mile POR, and retrofit designs, while also providing electrical, controls, and software integration support across all First and Middle Mile building types.
We are a high-impact team of innovative leaders and solutions-oriented engineers working alongside the world's brightest talent. We tackle hundreds of projects annually in a fast-paced, often ambiguous environment where you will be challenged, learn, and grow while solving complex problems with a high level of ownership.
As an Engineering Project Leader, you will design high-quality, cost-effective solutions for our fulfillment systems, including retrofits for highly automated fulfillment centers and cross-dock facilities. You will collaborate with internal and external teams, vendors, and contractors to generate solutions in very short periods.
In this role, you will coordinate design and innovation efforts to optimize the fulfillment network through equipment specification, material flow, process design, and site layout. You will manage multiple projects simultaneously, balancing business value with technology risk. Your work will involve deeply understanding business and technical requirements across mechanical, electrical, and controls functions, and helping stakeholders make appropriate trade-offs by considering the larger picture of business goals, throughput, quality, and efficiency.
You will be challenged to identify standards and drive consistent engineering changes across North America, building strong relationships with Fulfillment Center leadership and operations teams. A day in the life involves transforming raw thoughts into clear technical documentation, executing a vision with detailed roadmaps, and traveling up to 25% globally to interact with business and technical leaders.
If you are passionate about designing the next generation of world-class sortation centers and logistics systems, we want to hear from you. At Amazon, we value people with unique backgrounds, experiences, and skill sets. If you are not sure that every qualification describes you exactly, we'd still love to hear from you.
Candidates should either live near or be willing to relocate within a reasonable commuting distance of the office (Nashville, Austin, or Bellevue). Relocation assistance may be provided. To apply, please submit your application through our careers portal.
