This position serves as a critical bridge between design innovation and manufacturing reality. The role is dedicated to designing, analyzing, and validating hydraulic and mechanical subsystems to drive performance improvements and cost reduction. You will support the entire lifecycle of maintenance-of-way equipment, collaborating with cross-functional teams to rapidly develop new applications and ensure the manufacturability of complex systems.
In this capacity, you will utilize advanced engineering methodologies and CAD tools to create detailed blueprints and models. Your work involves selecting optimal materials and processes while overseeing prototype testing to evaluate reliability. You will act as a technical authority, providing direction on hydraulic and mechanical designs, leading design reviews, and collaborating with vendors to specify components. The role requires active engagement with production and service teams to diagnose issues, implement Engineering Change Requests (ECRs), and ensure product quality from concept through field deployment.
You will operate within a dynamic engineering environment focused on the transportation and machinery sectors. Success in this role depends on strong collaboration with Purchasing, Production, Quality, and Sales functions to address machine productivity and quality challenges. You will also interface directly with customers and supply chain partners, ensuring that design intent is clearly communicated and that field feedback is effectively integrated into future product iterations.
Candidates selected for this role will be expected to demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning, including participation in product line training and field visits. The position involves leading work assigned by project engineers and training other departments on necessary functions to ensure product success.
