The Independent Living Services (ILS) Instructor plays a vital role in empowering adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to achieve greater autonomy. This position focuses on delivering one-on-one, skills-based instruction that fosters independence in daily living and community integration. Services are provided directly in client homes and community settings, strictly adhering to authorized ILS plans and individualized, person-centered goals.
In this role, you will be the primary advocate for client choice, dignity, and safety. Your work involves implementing evidence-based teaching strategies, such as Active Supports, to help clients master essential life skills ranging from personal hygiene and household management to budgeting and community navigation. You will ensure that every interaction reinforces the client's ability to make informed choices while maintaining strict compliance with all applicable regulations and agency policies.
