About the Role

This position serves as a dedicated Social Studies Teacher within the Gaston County Schools district, operating under general supervision to foster both educational and social development. The role is designed to guide students through the North Carolina Standard Course of Study, helping them acquire essential subject matter knowledge and skills tailored to their unique mental, physical, and emotional maturity levels.

The day-to-day environment involves creating a functional and attractive learning space through strategic displays and interest centers. As an educator, you will deliver instruction to a diverse range of learners, utilizing both verbal and visual methods to ensure accessibility. The role requires a balance of individual and group instruction, managing student behavior to maintain effective participation, and continuously monitoring academic and social growth.

Beyond the classroom, this position emphasizes strong community and family engagement. You will serve as a primary liaison for parents, holding conferences to discuss student progress and interpret the school program. Collaboration is key; you will work closely with professional staff to assess and address student needs, participate in faculty committees, and sponsor student activities. The role also involves maintaining professional competence through in-service education and engaging with Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to continuously improve instructional methods.
