Special Education High is part of K12, a Stride Company, dedicated to providing K12-powered virtual high schools with personalized learning programs. Our mission is to deliver an exemplary, individualized, and engaging educational experience for students by incorporating school and community partnerships, a rigorous curriculum, and a data-driven, student-centered instructional model. We believe in "Education for ANY ONE," empowering families with a high-quality online option where students can thrive, find their passion, and learn at their own pace.
We are seeking passionate educators to join the talented team at Oklahoma Virtual Charter Academy (OVCA). Our vibrant school community is built on compassionate teachers who ensure every student progresses successfully through the program.
The Special Education Teacher is a state-certified educator responsible for delivering specific course content in an online environment. This role focuses on managing the learning process and addressing the individual needs of students as defined by their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). You will work actively with students, parents, and learning coaches to advance each student's learning journey.
In this position, you will ensure all special education and related services are provided as determined by the IEP team. This involves communicating with parents and related service staff to ensure appropriate therapies, developing compliant IEPs and progress reports, and facilitating collaborative meetings. You will modify Stride K12 lessons and assessments as specified by the IEP, ensure the inclusion and success of students in general education classrooms, and provide rich synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences.
A key aspect of this role is establishing and maintaining positive rapport with families. You will regularly communicate with and respond to students and learning coaches, supporting them with curricular and instructional issues in a virtual classroom environment. You will also analyze student data to prescribe remediation and enrichment, prepare students for high-stakes standardized tests, and maintain accurate grade books to ensure academic integrity.
This is a full-time, virtual position requiring the ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week. Candidates must be able to maintain a professional home office without distraction during work hours, typically between 9 AM and 5 PM (or 8 AM and 4 PM), though hours may be defined by the school. The role may require travel up to 20% of the time for face-to-face professional development, student testing, or other school requirements.
To apply, please ensure you meet the residency requirement of living in Oklahoma and possess the necessary state certifications. If you are a job seeker with a disability and require a reasonable accommodation to apply, please contact stridecareers@k12.com.
