About the Role

Based at the Saint Marys Campus in Surgical Services, the Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) provides organizational, receptionist, and clerical support to patient care units and the healthcare team. You will play an integral role in communication across the continuum of care, functioning as a resource to team members and familiarizing yourself with multiple Mayo Clinic resources.

In this role, you will monitor and order supplies, promptly answer patient call lights, and elevate patient needs to nursing staff. You will assist the care team with managing orders in the electronic health record (EHR) and communicate effectively via a variety of modalities with patients, visitors, and facility staff. The position requires carrying out all aspects of the job using good judgment and problem-solving skills, while anticipating and responding to team requests and patient needs. You will assume responsibility for self-development within the role and participate in continuous improvement activities.
