About the Role
The Springfield, Missouri Public School District is seeking a dedicated Head Coach to lead our athletic program. This seasonal, non-exempt position is vital for fostering student growth, ensuring safety, and building a positive team culture. As the primary liaison between the school, the community, and external organizations, you will serve as a role model while designing and implementing a comprehensive athletic strategy that aligns with all applicable rules and regulations.
Day in the Life
Your journey begins with strategic planning, analyzing opposition strategies to develop winning game plans and creating individualized practice regimes that enhance student performance in strength, speed, and agility. You will supervise student athletes across all aspects of the program, from practices and competitions to travel and meetings, ensuring a safe environment with minimal risk of injury.
Beyond the field, you will act as a mentor and advocate. This includes monitoring academic eligibility to ensure compliance with AIA requirements, supporting students through the college recruiting process, and providing feedback on individual performance. You will also manage facility safety, coordinate with volunteers and student managers, and represent the district at tournaments and workshops. The role demands flexibility, often requiring extended hours, evenings, and weekends to support the team's success.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications, including a background clearance satisfactory to the District and a minimum of sixty college credit hours.
