Miami Rescue Mission Clinic operates as a medical practice within Miami, Florida, delivering free healthcare to more than 11,000 homeless and underserved individuals annually. Founded in May 2009, the organization addresses critical gaps in care for populations previously limited to emergency rooms or sporadic health fairs. The clinic serves residents in areas designated by the Department of Health and Human Services as Medically Underserved Areas and Health Professional Shortage Areas, providing essential primary care to those with little or no access to medical services.
The organization's origins trace back to The Mission Project in 2000, a collaborative effort between community shelter leaders and a local college aimed at improving clinical skills and addressing health needs. This initiative evolved into a permanent clinic network, with the initial Miami office opening in 2009, followed by locations in Hollywood in 2012 and Doral in 2019. These facilities collectively serve two counties across South Florida.
Beyond direct patient care, the clinic offers training opportunities for healthcare personnel working with high-risk, high-cost populations. The organization focuses on compassionate, value-based services designed to enhance the lives of diverse communities while fostering civic responsibility. The clinic maintains a consistent presence in the region to support proactive management of complex health challenges among the homeless and uninsured.
