Volunteers of America is a non-profit human services organization committed to serving people in need, strengthening families, and building communities. VOALA provides a variety of social services to Los Angeles area communities, including Head Start programs, Upward Bound college prep programs, veterans' services, homeless shelters, low-income housing programs, and drug and alcohol rehabilitation.
The Care Manager (Generalist) serves as the primary point of contact for program participants who have been, or are currently, involved with the criminal justice system and are suffering from co-occurring disorders. This role is dedicated to providing intensive, individualized care to high-acuity clients, preparing them for further success in society.
In this position, you will meet with participants at least weekly to coordinate services, develop treatment plans, and facilitate access to counseling and crisis intervention. You will act as an advocate for clients in court and before other government agencies, supporting their re-entry into society. The role requires navigating complex emotional landscapes to support the neediest of the needy, including individuals facing homelessness, mental illness, substance abuse, and the challenges of incarceration.
To apply, candidates must be prepared to undergo a comprehensive background check, including fingerprint clearance, criminal history verification, and a Los Angeles Sheriff Department (LASD) background check. Additional requirements include approval from the Department of Health Services (DHS) and a TB test. A valid California driver's license and reliable transportation are mandatory for this on-site position.
