As a Groundskeeper, you will be an essential member of the Parks and Forestry crews, performing all aspects of bed maintenance and grounds care. This role is vital to keeping Norfolk's public spaces safe, clean, and inviting. You will work independently or as part of a group to manage the physical upkeep of parks and facilities.
Your day-to-day activities will involve a variety of hands-on tasks, including chemical spraying, mulching, hedge and shrub trimming, tree pruning, mowing, weed trimming, and edging. You will also be responsible for clearing streets and walkways during emergencies, assisting with funeral services, and performing foundation services such as digging holes and installing markers. The role requires operating and maintaining a variety of vehicles and specialized equipment, including push mowers, string trimmers, blowers, chain saws, chippers, and stump grinders.
