About the Role
The Grounds & Facilities Technician supports the daily upkeep and maintenance of Elm Street Plaza and related civic spaces. Under the supervision of the Civic Space Facilities Coordinator, this hands-on role is responsible for executing landscaping duties, general repairs, custodial tasks, and event setup as assigned. The Technician ensures the site is clean, safe, and welcoming for the public while maintaining a professional demeanor when interacting with coworkers, vendors, and visitors.
Work Environment
This is a hands-on position requiring comfort working outdoors in all weather conditions. The role involves flexible shifts, including weekends, evenings, and holidays, to support the dynamic needs of the plaza and its events.

Key Responsibilities
- check_circlePerform daily landscaping and hardscaping tasks including mowing, edging, weeding, and mulching
- check_circleConduct minor facility repairs including painting, carpentry, plumbing, and electrical work
- check_circlePerform custodial tasks including restroom cleaning and pressure washing
- check_circleConduct irrigation checks and perform minor irrigation repairs
- check_circleFollow safety protocols and report hazards or damages promptly
- check_circleOperate various vehicles and power tools like UTVs, mini loaders, and snow blowers
- check_circleAssist with event preparation, teardown, and rink maintenance duties
- check_circleExecute winter operations such as snow removal and ice melt distribution
Requirements
- verifiedHigh school diploma or equivalent
- verifiedValid driver's license with a good driving record
- verifiedAbility to drive various types of vehicles and trailers
- verifiedWillingness to obtain necessary safety certifications
- verifiedAbility to secure certification as a forklift/telehandler operator
Nice to Have
At least 1 year of experience in landscaping, groundskeeping, facility maintenance, or a related field.
