The Dietary Aide is a vital support role within our food service operations, ensuring the smooth and sanitary execution of meal service. Reporting directly to the Cook and Dietary Supervisor, this position adapts daily to the specific needs of each shift. The role exists to maintain high standards of food safety, efficiency, and cleanliness while supporting the broader kitchen team.
Your day begins with preparing the kitchen for service, which includes checking chlorine concentrations and water temperatures for the dishwashing machine. You will set up meal trays, assist in serving various meals, and prepare nourishments and snacks. A significant portion of your time is dedicated to maintaining a sanitary environment: stripping and washing returned trays, operating the dishwasher, cleaning work surfaces and refrigerators, and sweeping or mopping floors.
You will also manage waste disposal and store groceries in a safe, orderly manner. Throughout the shift, you must be ready to assist the Cook or Supervisor as needed, ensuring the kitchen remains clean and functional. The role requires active participation in orientation and ongoing training, fostering a cooperative atmosphere with personnel across all departments.
Candidates must possess a High School diploma or equivalent and be able to obtain and maintain a food handler's certificate. The role requires the ability to read technical procedures and recipes, as well as apply basic mathematical concepts to practical situations.
