As a Dietary Aide, you play a vital role in maintaining the daily rhythm of our food service operations. Your assignments are driven by the specific needs of each shift, ensuring that meal service runs smoothly and efficiently. You will report directly to the Cook and the Dietary Supervisor, serving as a key support member of the kitchen team.
Your day begins with essential safety checks, including verifying chlorine concentration and water temperatures for the dishwashing machine. Throughout the shift, you will be active in the kitchen, setting up meal trays, assisting with meal service, and preparing nourishments and snacks. A significant portion of your time is dedicated to maintaining a sanitary environment: stripping and washing returned trays, operating the dishwasher, and keeping work surfaces, refrigerators, and floors clean and organized.
You will also manage waste disposal and store groceries in a safe, orderly manner. Beyond the physical tasks, you are expected to participate in the orientation and ongoing training of dietary staff, fostering a collaborative atmosphere where you work in harmony with personnel across all departments. The role requires adaptability, as you must be able to learn food service routines quickly and interpret various instructions, whether written, oral, or diagram-based.
Candidates must possess a High School diploma or equivalent and must obtain and maintain a valid food handler's certificate. We look for individuals who can effectively read technical procedures and recipes, apply mathematical concepts to practical situations, and solve problems as they arise.
