Forklift Operator

About the Role

As a Forklift Operator at Americold, you play a critical role in the safe and accurate movement of food products throughout our facility. This position is essential for maintaining the integrity of our supply chain, ensuring that goods are received, stored, and shipped efficiently while adhering to strict safety and quality standards.

You will be responsible for operating a variety of equipment, including sit-down and stand-up forklifts, high-reach forklifts, straddle trucks, and radio frequency scanners. Your day-to-day involves loading and unloading freight, stacking merchandise, and assembling orders for shipment. Beyond equipment operation, you will check freight for accuracy, damage, and infestation, and handle labeling, sorting, and packing tasks as directed.

Work Environment

This role operates in a demanding environment that requires adaptability and resilience. You will work in controlled temperatures ranging from 32°F to -45°F, as well as in outdoor conditions subject to heat, cold, and precipitation. The position requires tolerance for heights up to 30 feet and the ability to work in spaces with limited headroom (55 inches).\n Physical demands include standing for up to 5 hours during an 8-10-12 hour shift, lifting boxes weighing between 10 and 70 lbs, and performing tasks such as rebuilding pallets. You must be prepared to wear protective clothing, boots, headgear, and gloves to ensure safety in cold environments.

Hiring Process & Application

Candidates with a high school diploma or GED and at least three months of related work experience are preferred. Flexibility is key; successful candidates must be willing to work overtime, evenings, or weekends as needed and adhere to strict attendance policies.
