About the Role
The Food Service Worker at Pickaway Correctional Institution plays a vital leadership role in ensuring meal and food items are prepared in accordance with production plans. In this position, you will supervise inmates to ensure timely, efficient meal service while training workers in methods of performing duties and assigning work to promote operational efficiency. Beyond food preparation, you are responsible for the sanitation of the facility and maintaining personal safety by conforming to all standards and regulations.
This role requires the ability to motivate and supervise inmates and team members to attain quality and quantity of food production within a correctional work environment. You will act as a key liaison between security policies and food service operations, ensuring that storage areas are secure, keys are managed, and all kitchen tools are properly accounted for. The position involves participating in the full lifecycle of meal production, from inventory and receiving to preparation, portion control, and post-production assembly.
