The Food Service Director serves as the strategic leader for the Dietary Department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality nutritional care to residents in a long-term care facility. This role is pivotal in bridging the gap between clinical nutrition needs and daily food service operations. Working in close coordination with the Registered Dietitian and the Facility Administrator, the Director ensures that all dietary services comply with federal, state, and local regulations while fostering a resident-centered environment that honors individual food preferences and therapeutic requirements.
Your day involves a dynamic blend of operational oversight, regulatory compliance, and community engagement. You will lead the team in preparing and serving meals that meet strict safety and nutritional standards, conducting regular meal rounds to ensure residents receive the correct food, consistency, and frequency required for their health. A significant portion of your time is dedicated to maintaining compliance through inspections, survey preparation, and the development of corrective action plans. You will also collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to review resident care plans, ensuring that dietary orders are accurately reflected in the medical records and that residents at nutritional risk are promptly referred to the dietitian.
Beyond the kitchen, you will act as a culture builder by recruiting, training, and mentoring staff, while also engaging directly with residents, families, and the resident council to gather feedback and improve the dining experience. You will manage departmental budgets, oversee food procurement, and ensure that all operations align with the company's Code of Business Conduct and ethical standards.
We are dedicated to providing compassionate care that respects the dignity and well-being of every resident. Our team operates with a core set of values including caring, accountability, and adaptability. We believe that food is a fundamental part of health and healing, and we strive to create a safe, sanitary, and welcoming dining atmosphere. As a member of our organization, you will be expected to demonstrate thorough knowledge of dietary positions, work cooperatively across all departments, and maintain the highest standards of professional conduct.
