The property features 28 buildings dedicated to teaching, research, agriculture, athletics, recreation, and residential use. The Farm Facilities & Grounds Maintenance Worker 2 is a vital member of the maintenance team, operating under limited supervision to ensure the safety, functionality, and aesthetic appeal of the entire property. This role is designed for a versatile technician who thrives in a dynamic outdoor environment, balancing routine groundskeeping with complex facility repairs.
In this position, you will manage a diverse array of tasks ranging from operating heavy machinery like tractors and skid steers to performing precision carpentry, plumbing, and electrical work. You will be responsible for seasonal maintenance, snow removal, and the upkeep of specialized areas including ponds, cross-country courses, and research facilities. Beyond technical execution, you will play a key role in training student workers and temporary staff on the safe operation of farm equipment, ensuring compliance with OSHA agricultural safety standards.
The role also involves significant interaction with the university community. You will coordinate with faculty on research project setups, assist with special events, and serve as a point of contact for visitors and students. This position requires a proactive approach to identifying maintenance needs, communicating effectively with the Farm administration, and fostering a safe, environmentally conscious workspace.
Candidates are encouraged to apply with a resume detailing their experience in institutional or industrial facilities maintenance, groundskeeping, or related trades.
