As a Seasonal Parks Maintenance Technician, you will be the backbone of our Public Lands department, responsible for the overall general maintenance of city-owned grounds, parks, trails, cemeteries, and recreation facilities. Your work ensures that our public spaces remain safe, clean, and inviting for all residents and visitors.
In this role, you will operate a variety of handheld and mechanical equipment to manage landscaping tasks, including mowing, aerating, weeding, and clearing debris. You will assist with park-related projects such as laying sod, reseeding, and planting flowers and trees, while also inspecting and adjusting irrigation systems. Your day-to-day duties also involve maintaining the cleanliness of restrooms, picking up trash, raking leaves, and clearing sidewalks. Additionally, you may assist in preparing ball fields and picnic areas for public use and work with city staff to clear areas occupied by individuals experiencing homelessness to ensure they are presentable for the community.

We provide medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, along with a Health Savings Account (HSA) with a city contribution. Our robust Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and wellness clinic support the well-being of employees and their families.
Financially, we offer tuition reimbursement, retirement contributions (pension and/or 401(k)), and various discounts. We also prioritize work-life balance with generous paid leave, including 12 vacation days, 12 paid holidays, and paid parental leave. Salt Lake City is proud to be a partner of the Utah Patriot Program, providing employment opportunities for Veterans, Military, and spouses, and is a proud National Service Partner.
