Lutheran Services Florida (LSF) envisions a world where children are safe, families are strong, and communities are vibrant. With 60 programs across the state serving a wide range of populations in need, LSF is a mission-driven organization where staff become part of a community dedicated to transforming the lives of those in need. The organization fosters growth opportunities, allowing employees to explore areas of interest within the agency while making a tangible impact on the lives of others.
The Child Welfare Case Manager serves as the integrator of all services and supports identified for each child, including therapy, mental health services, health and dentistry, developmental services, educational support, and permanency planning. This role is critical for establishing meaningful relationships with clients and families while living the agency's core values. The Case Manager provides full wrap-around case management services, working collaboratively with parents, Guardians Ad Litem, foster parents, and other pertinent parties to develop case plans aimed at reunification or other permanency outcomes. The position requires navigating complex family dynamics, ensuring trauma-sensitive transitions when necessary, and maintaining a high level of cultural and socioeconomic sensitivity to the service population.
In this role, you will manage a caseload with a focus on safety and family functioning. Your day involves meeting with children in their primary residences and parents to conduct assessments and develop case plans. You will visit children regularly, including unannounced visits, and document all activities in the Florida Safe Families Network database within strict timeframes. The role requires active participation in court activities, individual case staffings, and coordinating emergency placements or medical treatments when children are at risk. You will also facilitate parental and sibling visits, conduct home studies for prospective placements, and serve as an on-call Case Manager, responding immediately to urgent needs. Success in this position demands the ability to prioritize work assignments, collaborate with Program Directors and legal staff, and adhere to Florida Statutes and Dependency Court orders.
Candidates selected for this position must obtain child welfare certification within one year of the hire date. All employment is contingent upon successful background screenings in accordance with the Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse requirements. For more information on these requirements, please visit the AHCA Clearinghouse website.
