Lutheran Services Florida (LSF) envisions a world where children are safe, families are strong, and communities are vibrant. With 60 programs across the state serving a wide range of populations in need, LSF is a mission-driven organization where staff become part of a community dedicated to transforming the lives of those in need. The agency offers growth opportunities for employees to explore areas of interest within the organization while making a tangible impact on the lives of others.
The Child Welfare Case Manager is a pivotal role designed to provide full wrap-around case management services to clients and families. This position is about more than just managing cases; it is about establishing genuine relationships with families while living out the agency's core values. The Case Manager serves as the integrator of all services and supports identified for each child, including therapy, mental health services, health and dentistry, developmental services, educational support, and permanency planning.
In this role, you will navigate the complexities of the dependency court system, Florida statutes, and administrative codes to manage cases toward specific goals recorded in case plans. You will collaborate closely with parents, Guardians Ad Litem, foster parents, and other pertinent parties to develop case plans aimed at reunification or other permanency for the child. The work requires a deep sensitivity to the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and needs of the service population, ensuring trauma-sensitive transitions when necessary.
Your day will be dynamic and varied, balancing direct client interaction with critical administrative duties. You will meet with children in their primary residences and identified parents to conduct assessments and develop case plans. A significant portion of your time will be spent visiting children according to required frequencies, including unannounced visits, and arranging for emergency placements or medical treatments when children are at risk.
Documentation is a key component of the role, requiring accurate entry of all case activities into the Florida Safe Families Network (FSFN) database within 48 hours. You will also prepare and submit court documentation, attend court activities, and participate in individual case staffings. As an agency on-call Case Manager, you will be responsible for responding immediately to calls and managing emergencies, requiring flexibility to rotate on-call schedules and travel throughout the state as needed.
