Fort Valley State University (FVSU) is a state and land-grant institution within the University System of Georgia. The Health and Nutrition Outreach Specialist will manage the Health & Wellness program within the Family and Consumer Sciences Department. This role is pivotal in planning and designing community-based programs to support county staff and the Mobile Health Unit through educational outreach to Georgia residents. The specialist will lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-based nutrition and wellness programs tailored to meet the needs of limited-resource, diverse, and socially disadvantaged audiences.
Collaboration is central to this position, involving work with county staff, program leadership, health-oriented campus departments, and medical, federal, and local agencies to address chronic disease, obesity prevention, and health equity. The specialist will also develop nutrition education materials, such as curricula, fact sheets, and healthy recipes, while delivering training and support to county-based staff and their clientele.
