This position is dedicated to providing an approved education program for students with disabilities, fostering a classroom environment that promotes learning and personal growth. The role focuses on helping students develop the essential skills, attitudes, and knowledge required to build a strong foundation for their continued education.
As a member of the Madison City Schools team, you will work within a multi-disciplinary framework to assess student abilities and develop individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to specific educational goals and outcomes. Your day-to-day work involves creating age-appropriate lesson plans and instructional materials that address academic, social, behavioral, and communication needs. You will serve as a key liaison between students, parents, and the broader school community, ensuring clear communication regarding instructional expectations and student progress.
Candidates selected for this position will be subject to the Students First Act of 2011. Please note that Madison City Schools reserves the right to fill this position by transferring a qualified applicant who is already employed by the district. Additionally, under the Students First Act, no credit toward tenure or non-probationary status is earned in the initial school year of employment if the date of hire occurs after September 30.
Upon an offer of employment, a background check is required in accordance with Alabama Code §§ 16-22A-5. Selected employees must submit legible fingerprints for a review by the Alabama Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. These background checks may not be more than ten (10) years old.
