Event Management Director

About the Role

As the strategic business leader for Event Management, you will oversee a comprehensive portfolio including Event Planning, Banquets/Catering, Event Service, and Event Technology. Your mission is to drive the development and implementation of departmental strategies that align with Marriott's brand service initiatives. You will ensure a seamless operational turnover from sales to operations and back, maximizing financial performance while meeting the target customer needs and fostering employee satisfaction.

Day in the Life

Your leadership extends across the entire event lifecycle. You will analyze market trends and competition to refine pricing and service offerings, while collaborating with the culinary team to maintain the highest standards of food handling and sanitation. A significant portion of your day involves troubleshooting potential conflicts, managing inventory levels, and ensuring all meeting spaces and support areas are maintained to brand standards.

You will lead the execution of brand service initiatives, setting clear expectations for your leadership team to deliver exceptional service behaviors. By fostering calculated risk-taking, you will identify opportunities to generate incremental revenue and strengthen relationships with outside vendors. Your role also involves direct consultation with customers to define objectives for high-profile meetings, conferences, and conventions, ensuring every event exceeds guest expectations.
