The Transmission Equipment Operator is an entry-level position dedicated to the construction, maintenance, and repair of electrical transmission systems. This role is vital for keeping power infrastructure operational, working across various locations and potentially traveling to other states to meet customer demands.
You will work safely on energized and de-energized overhead lines, performing tasks such as stringing wire, setting poles, and installing critical components like transformers and switchgear. The work involves rigorous physical labor, often in inclement weather, and requires a high level of skill when handling high-voltage systems to ensure the safety of yourself and your team.
You will maintain company vehicles and tools, operate heavy equipment, and perform basic bucket rescues. The role demands constant vigilance regarding safety protocols, including proper use of PPE, flag and tag procedures, and understanding minimum approach distances. You will be expected to work outside normal schedules, including weekends and holidays, to support the ongoing needs of the organization.
Candidates must be able to obtain a Commercial Driver's License permit within 60 days of employment. A Commercial Driver's License is preferred. The role requires the ability to travel long distances on short notice and work extended periods in various locations.
