At SS Peter & Paul Catholic School and Parish, the Custodian serves as a vital minister of the Gospel, ensuring the physical environment reflects the dignity of the faith community. Under the direction of the Pastor, School Principal, or Maintenance Supervisor, this role goes beyond standard janitorial duties to actively support the unique Catholic mission of the Diocese. The position requires an individual who lives out Catholic teaching behaviorally, both at work and in personal life, striving to model the teachings of Jesus through attitude and example.
You will be responsible for developing and executing cleaning schedules to maintain the parish and school facilities in an orderly fashion. Your day involves performing general custodial duties, including floor waxing, painting, window washing, and carpet cleaning, while also assisting with the setup and cleanup for all school and parish activities. As a self-starter, you will manage multiple tasks simultaneously, maintain security of buildings and tools, and ensure a safe working environment by complying with all safety regulations.
As a Roman Catholic religious organization, SS Peter & Paul Parish and School expects all employees to respect and conduct themselves in accordance with the values, teachings, and morals of the Roman Catholic Church. Employees are expected to be in full communion with the Church and must not espouse any doctrine inconsistent with Catholic teachings. We operate under a "Zero Tolerance Policy" regarding the abuse of minors or violations of boundaries in dealing with minors.
Candidates must successfully pass a background, criminal history, and credit history check. The role requires a valid Arizona driver's license and the ability to read safety warnings and directions. We welcome bilingual (English/Spanish) applicants as a preferred qualification.
