About the Role
This position reports to the Gas Operations Manager and serves as a critical link in maintaining the operational integrity of landfill gas collection and control systems (GCCS). The GCCS is a complex network of extraction wells, piping, and conveyance equipment designed to capture landfill gas (LFG) for combustion in a flare. The primary mission of this role is to ensure the proper operation and maintenance of these systems to strictly comply with State and Federal environmental regulations while optimizing performance in a cost-effective manner.
Day in the Life
You will operate in a dynamic environment that blends inside gas plant conditions with outdoor fieldwork, navigating inclement weather, heat, and humidity. Your day involves calibrating and maintaining sensitive electronic data collection devices to optimize LFG extraction, managing data entry from wellfield extraction and environmental monitoring locations, and implementing preventative maintenance plans. You will troubleshoot and maintain liquid management systems, including pneumatic or electric-driven pumps, and perform adjustments on wellfield valves and vacuum systems. Additionally, you will utilize PVC or HDPE piping materials for maintenance tasks and be prepared for on-call responses to any GCCS-related malfunctions.

Nice to Have
Experience in environmental fieldwork, construction, electrical, mechanical, or other hands-on work environments. Working knowledge of gas collection systems, pumps, blowers, or flare systems. Technical or trade school training in environmental science, mechanical systems, instrumentation, or a related field. Experience working with Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) or High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) piping and components. Experience using data logging systems. Mechanical aptitude or prior experience in mechanical maintenance, including troubleshooting systems with pumps, motors, or pneumatic equipment. Fundamental knowledge of computer data entry and interpretation. Ability to work independently in field environments with minimal supervision.
