The Environmental Geographic Information System (GIS) Analyst joins the Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands (CEMML) at Colorado State University. As part of the US Air Force Environmental GIS project (AFEnvGIS), the team serves multiple technical and support functions for over 100 USAF installations. The group is dedicated to ensuring data integrity, developing efficient technical processes, and providing critical reach-back support to off-campus analysts and the Air Force Civil Engineering Center.
Duty stationed in Fort Collins, CO, this role is designed to bridge the gap between complex geospatial data and actionable environmental management. You will serve as a central hub for technical support, troubleshooting issues for ISS GIS Analysts and AFCEC team leads while developing best tools and techniques for GIS processes.
Your day-to-day involves designing cartographic products, conducting spatial analysis and modeling, and managing large-scale data collections. You will be responsible for maintaining data on the AF Geo-portal, creating project map templates, and developing automation techniques to streamline data management. The role also includes preparing written documentation, project guidance, and training materials, as well as co-hosting online presentations to support the broader project team.
While the position is primarily based in Fort Collins, it may require travel to selected Air Force installations for field data collection using GPS technology. Work arrangements may be fully in-person or hybrid, depending on project needs.
To be considered for this position, applicants must submit a Resume/CV, a Cover Letter that addresses both required and preferred qualifications, and unofficial transcripts. Please note that applicants may redact personal information such as age, date of birth, or graduation dates from their materials.
Candidates selected for final consideration will undergo a pre-employment criminal background check and must be able to pass a DoD federal background check to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC). A valid driver's license is also required.
