This position serves as a vital support pillar within the MDC Medical department, bridging the gap between clinical staff and patient care needs. You will work alongside nurses and physicians to ensure a safe, clean, and efficient environment for patients across the entire lifespan, from neonates to geriatric adults. The role is designed for individuals who thrive in dynamic, high-acuity settings and are committed to upholding the highest standards of patient safety and dignity.
In this capacity, you will assist in complicated treatment procedures and routine care, acting as an extension of the nursing team. A key aspect of the role involves proactive patient safety; you are expected to identify clinical situations beyond your scope, report potential risks, and encourage patients to actively participate in their own care. Whether managing observation unit patients, maintaining equipment, or handling administrative support tasks, your contributions directly impact the quality of the care environment.
This role operates within a unique and secure setting, requiring close proximity to incarcerated individuals and adherence to strict security protocols. MDC requires all employees to obtain and maintain specific security clearance as a condition of employment. The environment presents specific physical and safety challenges, including the potential for combative patients and exposure to chemicals or biohazardous materials, necessitating strict adherence to PPE requirements.
Safety & Conduct Policy
To maintain a secure and focused environment, cell phones and smart devices are strictly prohibited on persons while on duty, unless there is a documented medical condition requiring an exception.
