As an ECE Teacher Assistant at the Sheridan Early Childhood Center in Englewood, CO, you will serve as a vital partner to the classroom teacher and special education staff. Your primary mission is to support the supervision and daily activities of children enrolled in the program, ensuring a nurturing environment where all students can thrive. This role is specifically designed to assist special education students in achieving their Individual Education Plans (IEPs) while fostering positive community relations between the school, families, and the broader community.
You will be an integral part of the learning environment, reinforcing classroom concepts for both typically developing children and those with special needs. Your day-to-day work involves guiding children through life skills experiences, managing behavior with patience and consistency, and monitoring progress through observations and adaptations. Beyond the classroom, you will engage directly with families through home visitations and parent conferences, helping to bridge the gap between home and school to enrich the child's pre-school experience.
Reporting to the Director of the Early Childhood Center, with day-to-day supervision provided by the classroom Teacher and Educational Coordinator, you will work collaboratively within a team that values flexibility, a positive attitude, and adherence to the Sheridan School District Strategic Plan and Head Start Goals. The position requires a blend of professional dedication and physical stamina to support children in a dynamic, active setting.
Interested candidates must complete a full online application via the Sheridan School District portal at applitrack.com. Please note that resumes submitted in lieu of the online application will not be considered, and incomplete applications will be disqualified. The search will remain open until the vacancy is filled, at which point selected applicants will be contacted for an interview.
To ensure the safety and well-being of the children we serve, all candidates must successfully clear a comprehensive background check. This includes a check through the Colorado Department of Human Services, an online Records check with the National Sex Offender Registry, the State of Colorado Child Abuse and Neglect Registry, and an FBI Fingerprint check through the Colorado Bureau of Investigation. Additionally, a physical examination completed within one year of the date of hire must be submitted prior to starting.
