About the Role
FedEx Freight is seeking a professional Driver to manage pick-up and delivery operations between Service Centers and customers. In this role, you will operate straight trucks to ensure delivery schedules are met while providing friendly, professional customer service. The position involves a dynamic day-to-day routine that includes securing freight with appropriate tools, performing daily safety inspections, and handling manual lifting of items up to 100 pounds. You will work in a multi-temperature environment, often outdoors, and may be exposed to noise, vibration, dust, and diesel fumes. The role requires the ability to work independently or as part of a team, following dispatch instructions and communicating effectively regarding delays, arrivals, or equipment issues.
Working Conditions
This position requires driving on all types of roads in all types of weather. You will perform duties both indoors and outdoors, including loading and unloading freight using motorized and manual equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks. The role may involve chaining vehicle tires and complying with hazardous material regulations. Hours may vary to meet operational needs.
Hiring Process
Applicants must possess a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B with hazardous materials and tank endorsements (the hazmat endorsement must be obtained within 120 days of offer acceptance). Candidates must be at least 21 years old and have one year of experience operating a straight truck or similar vehicle within the last three years, or have successfully completed the FedEx Freight Driver Development Course. A Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check is required based on hiring standards.
