At NetApp, your ideas power innovation. We lead in intelligent data infrastructure, delivering unified storage, integrated data services, and solutions that help organizations unlock the full potential of their data, from AI to multicloud. As the only enterprise-grade storage service natively embedded in Google Cloud, AWS, and Microsoft Azure, we empower customers to run everything from traditional workloads to enterprise AI with unmatched performance, resilience, and security.
Our culture celebrates mold breakers, bold thinkers, and problem solvers. We reward initiative, impact, and ownership, providing the flexibility to balance professional ambition with personal life. Here, differences are not just welcomed—they drive everything we do. We embrace a hybrid working environment designed to strengthen connection, collaboration, and culture for all employees.
This Distinguished Engineer role reports into the Cloud Business Unit SVP & GM and serves as a technical leader dedicated to building and scaling NetApp architecture across Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud. You will tackle real-world challenges where NetApp storage is first-party integrated into these major cloud providers, driving innovation and engineering excellence.
As a Distinguished Engineer, you are expected to be a hands-on practitioner, not a consultant. You will devote 40% or more of your time to producing artifacts such as vision statements, design documents, and source code, serving as a role model for the NetApp technical community. Your day-to-day involves solving the most complex engineering problems in service fundamentals (availability, reliability, performance, and scalability), developer velocity, and designing fault-tolerant, highly available, and low-latency control plane architectures.
You will operate with independence, acting as a force multiplier for the company. This includes fostering a culture of learning and experimentation, architecting modern CI/CD infrastructure for hundreds of developers, and designing cloud-native QA frameworks. Beyond technical execution, you will functionally decompose complex problems, balance conflicting stakeholder objectives, and actively coach and mentor senior engineers while contributing to intellectual property through patents.
Candidates will engage in a rigorous selection process designed to assess technical depth, leadership capability, and cultural fit. The process typically includes:
