This Distinguished Engineer role reports into the Cloud Business Unit SVP & GM and serves as a technical leadership position focused on building and scaling NetApp architecture across Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud. You will tackle real-world challenges where NetApp storage is first-party integrated into all three major cloud providers.
As a Distinguished Engineer, you are expected to be a hands-on practitioner, not a consultant. You will devote 40% or more of your time to producing vision statements, design documents, and source code, serving as a role model for the NetApp technical community. Your mission is to drive innovation and engineering excellence by solving the most complex engineering problems in service fundamentals, developer velocity, and control plane architecture.
You will operate with independence, acting as a force multiplier for the company. This involves collaborating with other technical leaders and software engineers to design fault-tolerant, highly available, and low-latency architectures. You will also help balance conflicting stakeholder objectives while building trust and demonstrating empathy with customers' needs.
The recruitment process is designed to assess both technical depth and cultural fit. Candidates can expect to engage in a series of interviews that include technical deep-dives, system design discussions, and team fit evaluations. Final compensation packages are competitive and reflect a variety of factors, including location, qualifications, and experience.
At NetApp, we embrace a hybrid working environment designed to strengthen connection, collaboration, and culture for all employees. Most roles will have some level of in-office and/or in-person expectations, which will be shared during the recruitment process.
