The Assistant Facility Manager serves as the operational backbone of our shelter, ensuring a safe, efficient, and welcoming environment for residents and staff. Reporting directly to the Program Director, this role is critical in maintaining the physical integrity of the building while upholding the organization's mission to support homeless families and individuals.
In this position, you will act as the on-site Fire & Life Safety Director (F89), overseeing daily fire safety operations and ensuring strict adherence to NYC fire codes and Department of Buildings regulations. Your day-to-day involves a dynamic blend of hands-on facility management, staff supervision, and emergency preparedness. You will lead maintenance and housekeeping teams, manage complex work orders, and coordinate large-scale projects, all while serving as the primary point of contact for clients, building management, and emergency personnel.
This role is designed for a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about creating stability for vulnerable populations. Whether performing minor repairs on HVAC units and plumbing or developing comprehensive emergency action plans, your efforts directly contribute to the safety and well-being of our community.
