The Facility Manager serves as the operational backbone of our shelter, ensuring a safe, efficient, and welcoming environment for residents and staff. Reporting directly to the Program Director, this role goes beyond traditional building maintenance; it is a mission-critical position dedicated to supporting vulnerable populations. You will be the primary on-site leader responsible for the physical integrity of the facility, the safety of its occupants, and the seamless execution of daily operations.
In this capacity, you will oversee a diverse team of maintenance and housekeeping staff, fostering a culture of high workmanship and accountability. Your day will be a dynamic blend of hands-on technical work—ranging from HVAC repairs and plumbing fixes to fire safety inspections—and strategic management, including vendor coordination, budget oversight, and emergency response planning. As the designated Fire & Life Safety Director, you will ensure strict adherence to NYC fire codes and DOB regulations, acting as the vital link between building management, emergency personnel, and the community we serve.
