This position serves as a vital link within the Health Department's WIC Program, dedicated to supporting the health and nutrition of pregnant women, new mothers, infants, and young children. The role exists to ensure participants receive accurate eligibility determinations, comprehensive nutrition assessments, and personalized education that empowers them to make healthy choices. From conducting anthropometric measurements to managing complex food package prescriptions, the Dietetic Technician plays an active role in community health outcomes.

You will determine program eligibility, assign appropriate food packages, and make necessary formula adjustments based on medical needs or physician requests.
A significant portion of your time is spent providing nutrition education, ranging from one-on-one counseling using motivational interviewing techniques to leading group classes. You will also coordinate care for participants with language barriers by utilizing interpreter services and develop educational materials tailored to diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. Additionally, you may participate in community outreach, such as the Farmer's Market Nutrition Program, and assist in public health emergency responses when required.
