Technicians play a critical role in maintaining the performance and quality of our fleet. As a Technician Apprentice, you will join a front-line team dedicated to the safety and efficiency of our operations. This role is designed for aspiring technicians who are logical problem solvers with a genuine enthusiasm for vehicle engineering and a commitment to ongoing learning.
You will not just work; you will learn. Over a two-year period, you will train to become a certified entry-level Diesel Mechanic. Your journey involves mastering the diagnosis and maintenance of diesel and non-diesel equipment, including electrical systems, air brakes, hydraulics, and air conditioning components. As a key member of the team, you will uphold our values of safety, ethics, and respect while contributing to the daily operations of one of our 180 business units.
The Republic Services Technician Apprenticeship program offers a unique "earn while you learn" environment. Your training begins with nine weeks of company-paid, hands-on instruction at our state-of-the-art Republic Services Technical Institute in Dallas, Texas. During this time, you will receive subsidized housing and gain foundational skills in new technologies and equipment.
Following the initial training, you will transition to 22 months of on-the-job training (OJT) at a permanent shop assignment. You will be supported by a dedicated mentor who will guide you through the program, helping you reach milestones and advance your skills. The curriculum blends practical work experience with virtual instructor-led technical content, covering everything from basic tire work to complex electrical diagnostics. While the program is designed to take two years, individuals who demonstrate accelerated development can advance to a Level C Technician ahead of schedule.
This apprenticeship program is open to candidates across the United States. The next cohort begins on August 10, 2026, in Dallas, Texas. Successful completion of the program guarantees consideration for a full-time technician position with Republic Services.
