This position is dedicated to creating an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service. The Deli Department Manager is responsible for establishing and maintaining a safe, clean environment that encourages customers to return, while simultaneously achieving sales and profit goals. You will serve as the guardian of quality assurance standards, monitoring all functions and activities within the department to ensure they align with the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.
Your day involves fostering a culture of trust and respect among associates while empowering the team to meet performance targets through collaboration. You will be the primary point of contact for customers, answering questions about products, offering samples, and ensuring every guest feels welcome and appreciated. Beyond customer interaction, you will manage the operational backbone of the department, including developing schedules to handle customer volume, overseeing inventory and stocking conditions, and ensuring proper temperatures are maintained in all cases and coolers.
Financial stewardship is also a key part of the role; you will assist in preparing budgets, reviewing profit and loss reports, and executing sales promotions in partnership with store management. Safety is paramount, requiring you to actively reinforce safety programs, inspect equipment for preventive maintenance, and report any risks or illegal activities immediately.
Candidates must demonstrate the ability to work cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment. The role requires strong communication skills, basic math proficiency, and the ability to handle conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational manner. A current food handlers permit is required upon employment.
We are committed to a workplace built on respect, diversity, and inclusion. We consider qualified applicants regardless of background and are dedicated to providing support and assistance to all individuals, including minors, those with special needs, and older adults.
